Biblical Patriarchs Timeline: 2020

A Chronology Of The Bible

Preaching Through The NT More Effectively With A Biblical Timeline

In our weekly Bible study years ago, somebody, who had been a Christian and been involved in the Church for over 15 years, asserted that,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-mosaic law) I wonder how many Christians will actually notice the error in this statement. Moses came about about five hundred years after Abraham and so it is not possible. I have since put together a Bible chronological chart and shown visually the dating of men and women and events.

Why do we get stuck in a rut of our pet themes and feel good discourses?
We instruct on a text from Titus and a narrative about Noah and a theme from the book of Psalms and then the example of Isaac or the miracles of Jesus - pieces from here and all over, but we do not put it all together in an evident understandable, easy to remember, perspective with a capable Bible TimeLine including Church History as well. Constantly we're bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, some of them dangerously edging toward Progressive doctrine, when if we were to be instructed the basic principles of Church history, we then wouldn't be so doomed to do the same again.
Let's us as tutors and preachers stitch together the aspects of God's Word and His plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the rest of life, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to live by.
It's not hard to do, and it is not boring if we're prepared to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just perhaps you can use a Bible Timeline also.

Moses existed five hundred years after Abraham and so it is impossible. I have since then made up a Bible chronological chart and explained more visually the time period of men and women and events.

Why do we dwell on our pet themes and feel good sermons?
We teach on a text from Matthew and a passage about Abraham and a theme from the book of Ephesians and then the example of Abraham or the perseverance of Noah - parts from here and everyplace, but we do not put it all at once in an apparent understandable, simple to remember, perspective with a good Bible TimeLine including Church History as well. Constantly we are bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, a few of them hazardously leaning toward Liberal thinking, when if we could be instructed the fundamental principles of Church history, we then wouldn't be so bound to do the same again.
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the fragments of God's Word and His plan into a logical whole that our people can draw on for the remainder of life, helping them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to order our lives by.
It's not hard to do, and it's not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can utilize a Bible Timeline too.

A Biblical History Timeline Presents A Creative Approach To Convey Biblical Characters And Events And Facts

Unfortunately, a numerous Pastors and teachers in our churches continue to preach flimsy, shallow, superficial, light weight sermons and their members hardly grow in biblical knowledge and understanding. Preachers love to preach'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we truly love people this is what we'll do. Regrettable it seems, if God's people are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' as long as we are positive and loving to all. Truly, the more relevant we become to this world, the less relevant we are to this world.
Some time ago, I was teaching on the burial, resurrection, death and life of Christ Jesus, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Bible, who had been in the ministry for 40 years, came up and reproved me smartly over some fascinating points I made and he stated 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he replied"No". I continued to spell out that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't speaking to exploring Scripture but to the false teaching and school of thought of Gnosticism, but he would not accept it. So, how can a 40 year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not understand and know about a thing that probably half the books of the New Testament discuss?
How could he understand and preach the Bible in fullness without being aware of a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be in a position to interpret their Bible properly, if they're not told?
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the aspects of the Bible and His plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the rest of their lives, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to live by.
It is not difficult to do, and it is not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of study and prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can employ a Bible Timeline also.

(they were not referring to the pre-Moses law) I wonder just how many Christians will actually notice the error in this assertion. Moses lived five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since compiled a Biblical history timeline and explained in a more graphic way the time period of individuals and occasions.

Some years ago, I was preaching on the resurrection, burial, death and life of Christ Jesus, and a retired minister and strong preacher of the Bible, who had been a minister for forty years, came up and reproved me smartly over some fascinating points I made and he stated 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.'
