A Biblical Timeline Banner Offers A Creative Approach To Help Teach Biblical Characters And Events And Truths

In our weekly Bible class years ago, a friend who had been a Christian and laboured in the Church for years, asserted that,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they were not talking about the pre-Moses law) I wonder how many Christians will really pick up the error in this claim. Moses existed some 500 years after Abraham and so it is not possible. I have since made up a Bible chronological chart and explained more visually the time period of people and occasions.

Some years ago, I was teaching on the death, life, resurrection and burial of Jesus, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Gospel, who had been in the ministry for forty years, came to me and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he referred to 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he answered"No". I continued on to describe that in the case of that particular Scripture, it was not speaking to exploring Scripture but to the false teachings and philosophy of Gnosticism, but he would not accept it. Let me ask, how can a forty year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not understand and know about a thing that possibly half the books of the New Testament relate to?
How can he study and preach the Bible fully without knowing about a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to figure out these things and be able to interpret their Bible well, if they are not told?
Let's us as tutors and preachers sew together the fragments of God's Word and God's plan into a logical whole that our people can draw on for the rest of life, to help them to figure out God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to order our lives by.
It's not hard to do, and it is not boring if we're prepared to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just maybe you can employ a Bible Timeline as well.
